HOW TO ELOPE IN GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK IN 2026

A bride’s ultimate guide to planning a Grand Teton National Park elopement

ELOPING IN 2026

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Eloping in 2026 means choosing a personal wedding experience that prioritizes adventure and authentic moments over tradition.

It’s about celebrating your love in a breathtaking location, free from expectations!

And what better place to elope than the Grand Tetons?!

WHY ELOPE IN grand teton national park?

Grand Teton National Park is a hidden gem for couples looking for epic scenery without the overwhelming crowds of other national parks. Here’s why it’s ideal for your 2026 elopement:

THE VIEWS: The Teton Range offers one of the most dramatic mountain skylines in the U.S., and you don’t have to hike for hours to get to incredible photo spots.

WILD BUT ACCESSIBLE: With a mix of drive-up overlooks, lakeside views, and alpine trails, you can choose how adventurous your day feels.

PEACEFUL VIBE: Compared to parks like Yellowstone or Yosemite, Grand Teton tends to feel more peaceful — especially during sunrise or shoulder seasons.

ABUNDANT WILDLIFE: Elk, moose, bison, and bald eagles are just a few of the locals you might spot on your wedding day.

SUNRISES AND SUNSETS: The Tetons light up in golden tones in the morning and evening — ideal for dreamy photos.

  • Vibe: Intimate, moody, magical

WHAT ARE THE SEASONS LIKE?

HOW CAN WE AVOID CROWDS?

To avoid tourists and large crowds in Grand Teton National Park, elope in shoulder season (mid-May and early-September). Sunrise is also a great option for a secluded ceremony if you do choose to elope in prime season. I also recommend eloping on a weekday in the Tetons. You'll have a unique wedding date and will avoid the influx of crowds.

WHAT'S THE BEST TIME OF DAY TO ELOPE IN THE GRAND TETONS?

I always recommend a full-day elopement to my couples in Grand Teton National Park. That way you can spend an entire day exploring together with no time constraints. When it comes to your elopement ceremony, sunrise is a wonderful time. If you're having some close friends and family members join in, you can make it an adventure for them too! Your day could look like this:

  • Sunrise ceremony at Schwabacher
  • Private vows
  • Picnic celebration at Mormon Row
  • Afternoon break
  • Hike to Jenny Lake
  • Sunset at Colter Bay
  • Campfire dinner and stargazing

GRAND TETON ELOPEMENT LOCATIONS AT A GLANCE

Schwabacher'S  Landing

Schwabacher's Landing is a favorite among eloping couples — and for good reason. The calm Snake River reflects the jagged Tetons like a mirror at sunrise, creating a surreal and peaceful atmosphere. It’s easily accessible, making it great for couples who want those epic views without a hike. Just note that it’s a popular photography spot, so arriving early or eloping on a weekday helps avoid crowds.

  • Accessibility: Short walk from parking; mostly flat terrain

  • Vibe: Peaceful, romantic, stunning reflections

  • Ideal group size: 2–12 people

  • Best time of day: Sunrise; arrive early for privacy, as this spot can fill up with sunrise watchers and wildlife photographers.

02

MORMON ROW

If you're dreaming of a wild west-meets-mountains backdrop, Mormon Row is perfect. The historic barns and fields are framed by the Tetons, offering that iconic "Old Wyoming" feel. It’s a great option for a larger guest count or for couples who want a blend of natural beauty and rustic charm.

  • Accessibility: Drive-up location with flat walking paths

  • Vibe: Earthy, nostalgic, wide-open skies

  • Ideal group size: Up to 25 people

  • Best time of day: Sunset; the fields light up in golden tones in the evening. Be aware it's a well-trafficked spot, but easy to find a quiet corner nearby for vows.

03

COLTER BAY

Colter Bay offers an ideal mix of convenience and scenery. Located right on Jackson Lake, it features wooded trails, rocky beaches, and quiet nooks that make for an intimate ceremony setting. It’s a great choice for couples staying in the park who want a low-key, nature-centered experience without traveling far. It’s also a perfect spot for a lakeside picnic or canoe adventure post-ceremony.

  • Accessibility: Multiple ceremony-friendly spots near parking and cabins

  • Vibe: Laid-back, lakeside, versatile

  • Ideal group size: 2–15 people

  • Best time of day: Sunrise, late afternoon, or sunset

04

JENNY LAKE

Jenny Lake is one of the crown jewels of the park, offering shimmering blue water surrounded by rugged peaks. You can keep it simple by exchanging vows near the parking area or take the shuttle boat across the lake for a short hike and more seclusion. It’s great for couples who want a mix of adventure and ease — and it photographs beautifully any time of day.

  • Accessibility: Drive-up viewpoints or boat shuttle; trails vary from easy to moderate

  • Vibe: Serene, romantic, alpine

  • Ideal group size: 2–15 people, depending on the spot

  • Best time of day: Early morning or evening for the softest light

  • Pro Tip: The west shore is quieter and more private. Consider a midweek ceremony and taking the shuttle boat for a more secluded experience.

BONUS: HORSE RANCH

If your dream elopement includes wide-open meadows, mountain views, and horses grazing in the distance — this is your spot. Jackson Hole Outfitters is a private ranch that offers horseback trail rides and rustic, scenic backdrops just outside of Grand Teton National Park. It’s ideal for couples who want a secluded ceremony with full Western charm.

  • Accessibility: Easy — drive-in with wide open spaces to explore on foot or horseback

  • Best time of day: Late afternoon to golden hour (especially dreamy with horses in the fields)

  • Pro Tip: You can pair your elopement with a private horseback ride through the Tetons or book the ranch exclusively for a true “Wyoming cowboy” experience. Since this is private land, you won’t need a park permit, which offers more flexibility for timing and setup.

Local JACKSON HOLE Vendors to Bring Your Day to Life

HOW TO DECIDE ON VENDORS

I recommend choosing vendors based on what you truly need. Book people that will love to be a part of your day and become friends throughout the process.

You may decide to order a bouquet from a local florist or a speciality cake for your elopement picnic. Whatever you decide, make sure it resonates with how you want your elopement day to flow. Remember to ask the question,"What is most important to us?"
